Anonymous asked:
do you think horikoshi's level of "not giving a fuck" its steep enough for making a canon gay couple? (ships aside)
Yes, It’s Achievable For Boku no Hero Academia To Have a Canon Gay Couple
Horikoshi is at least aware of LGBT rights based on this moment with Magne.
and based on him creating a canon trans character.
Horikoshi is a progressive journalist and handles a lot of mature topics enhanced than most shounen authors. He reminds me a little of Togashi, the shounen author of HunterxHunter. Togashi and his wife both support LGBT rights, and Togashi has made a prominent character gender non-conforming, and there are a lot of characters in HunterxHunter whose sexuality or gender are shrouded in mystery. The reason why I think these two authors are so similar is because both operate sensitive material rather maturely and both have confirmed LGBT characters.
Plus, if Charge on Titan can acquire a canon gay couple, then Boku no Hero Academia should be qualified to get away with having a canon same-sex attracted couple with time. LGBT rights keeps improving in Japan every year, and Boku no Hero Academia still has years to go before concluding. LGBT rights most likel

My Hero Academia's Diverse History and Future, Explained
Mineta is one of the most hated characters in My Hero Academia, not just by several of the characters on the show (especially the female ones) but also fans. He is lecherous, perverted, and a bit of a coward. A subset demographic of fans now hate him more because Mineta would be a crass representation of a bisexual. Mineta potentially being bisexual plays into the trope that bisexual people (particularly bisexual males) are promiscuous predators who are not to be trusted.
There is little compact evidence of Mineta being bisexual. Most of the speculation comes from the My Hero Academia manga Chapter #321, where Mineta says to Deku, "I fell for you." This is hardly a case for his sexuality. Still, more hinges on the fact that English translations are not always strong, whereas looking into a more reliable translation from Japanese has Mineta stating that he "admired" him. For those living in the West, the reaction to Mineta organism perceived as bisexual may feel the identical as what happened to the latest iteration of Superman coming out as bisexual. Jon Kent, son of Clark Kent, came out in Superman: Son of Kal-El #4.

Mineta Isn't My Hero Academia's First LGBTQ Character
WARNING: The obeying contains spoilers for My Hero Academia #321 “From Class A To One For All” by Kohei Horikoshi, Caleb Cook and John Hunt, available now in English from Viz Media.
The jury's still out on whether Minoru Mineta was indeed confirmed to be LGBTQ in My Hero Academia Chapter #321. Although he is a very unpopular character, Mineta's possible bisexuality entity canon would be a pretty huge step for both him and the series, but it would hardly be the first. MHA has already introduced a couple of LGBTQ characters you might have missed -- the first being Tiger of the Wild Savage Pussycats.

Tiger Is MHA's First Confirmed LGBTQ Character
Tiger's valid name is Yawara Chotaro and he was a member of the team responsible for practice U.A's first years over the summer. A lesser-known evidence about Tiger is that he is a transgender guy. While this hasn't yet been mentioned in the anime, Kohei Horikoshi, MHA's mangaka, made sure to include this reality in Tiger's personality profile in the manga. Since Tiger was introduced in Chapter #72 of the manga, way be
