Celebrities are no stranger to bad squeeze and sometimes it's because of something they said. 

Stars like Alec Baldwin, Paris Hilton, Kevin Hart, and Sarah Silverman have all been criticized for saying anti-LGBTQ remarks.

Ariana Grande, Pedro Pascal, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sabrina Carpenter and Daniel Radcliffe are among more than 100 Hollywood notables who signed an open letter, slamming the Trump administration’s proposal to trim funding for LGBTQ youth suicide prevention programs.

Published by the nonprofit company The Trevor Venture, the celebrities are calling for Trump and Congress to “protect funding for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.”

“We are heartbroken by the proposal to eliminate federal funding for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services — a move that will have devastating, life-threatening consequences for young people across the country,” the letter read. “As artists, creators, and public figures, our platforms come with responsibility. And today, that responsibility is clear: we must speak out to protect the mental health and lives of LGBTQ+ youth. We will not stay silent.”

Zooey Zephyr, Montana State Representative of District 100, made headlines after refusing an apology to her colleagues for telling them they’d have “blood on their hands” by supporting the state’s transgender medical nurture ban in slow April. 

Now, the first-term rep, wonders if North American people are ready for the 2024 election year as more than 500 anti-LGBTQ bills drowned the state legislature, according to GLAAD’s 2023 Accelerating Acceptance describe. The two legislative sessions prior to 2023 were also record breaking. 

Yet while most of these mounting bills might not pass, they have a harmful lasting effect on mental health, access to community, learning process and healthcare as well as universal perception of LGBTQ people. 

In GLAAD’s 2023 Accelerating Acceptance inform it was reported from the Trevor Project that “nearly 2 in 3 LGBTQ young people said that hearing about potential express or local laws banning people from discussing LGBTQ people at school made their mental health a lot worse.”
