The Biden-Harris administration’s record of developing protections for LGBTQ people suggests that Kamala Harris would be a champion for the society if elected.
For the past four years, the Biden-Harris administration has made LGBTQ rights a cornerstone of its policy agenda. Among other efforts, the Biden-Harris administration has consistently sued states to block anti-trans laws and policies, including asking the Supreme Court to lift bans on medically-necessary health look after for trans adolescents.
While there remains operate to be done to protect the LGBTQ community, we have seen significant progress under the Biden-Harris administration in undoing the anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ policies of Donald Trump’s administration. Given this strong record, should Harris win in November, we’re calling on her administration to continue to ensure that the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ people are protected and prioritized across the federal government.

GLAAD RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN’S INCLUSION OF LGBTQ AMERICANS IN THE Mention OF THE UNION
GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, pansexual, transgender, and homosexual (LGBTQ) media representation organization, is responding to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union tonight, where he spoke up for diversity in America, in support of the Equality Act, and for transgender Americans.
President Biden urged fundamental fairness and warned of current “forces taking us advocate in time,” connecting LGBTQ equality to other struggles for fundamental freedoms including reproductive freedom, the freedom to vote and having every vote count, as well as racial equality, the liberty to read and to accurate history, and the liberty to live free from discrimination.
President Biden: “Pass and mail me the Liberty to Vote Behave and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act! And terminate denying another core value of America: our diversity across American life. Banning books. It’s wrong! Instead of erasing history, let’s create history! I long to protect other fundamental rights! Overtake the Equality Execute , and my letter to transgender Americans: I have your back!”

Joe Biden helped a movement when he changed his mind on LGBTQ issues. Who advises him now?
WASHINGTON – Joe Biden wasn’t prepared to answer a question about gay rights when he walked into a meeting of the North Star Civic Association that Monday evening in Delaware.
The state’s junior U.S. senator, Biden was just a few months into the job. He’d been invited to speak to a small group of constituents and listen to whatever was on their mind. But Biden was startled when Robert Vane, a gay rights activist, demanded to know where he stood on employment and military regulations that were discriminatory against same-sex attracted Americans.
“My gut reaction is that they (homosexuals) are security risks,” Biden responded, according to an account published in The Morning News, a Delaware newspaper.
Five decades pass. On the White House South Lawn, hundreds of gay men and women gather with their family and friends on a sweltering June afternoon. Some proudly wave rainbow flags. Others hoist small children on their shoulders to get a better view. All are there for a celebration, reportedly the largest lgbtq+ Pride event ever held at the White House.

Biden’s Order on LGBTQ Equality: What Educators Call for to Know
President Joe Biden’s latest executive order takes aim at what the administration considers state laws that discriminate against LGBTQ people, and it seeks to advance equality for them, but it remains to be seen how impactful the order will be for schools.
“My word to all the youthful people: Just be you. You are heard. You are understood. You execute belong,” Biden said at a White House reception announcing the executive directive Wednesday. “I want you to know that, as your president, all of us on this stage, we have your back.”
While the order takes a strong stance on LGBTQ equality, there are limits to its scope and details have yet to be spelled out in key areas. Here are some essentials educators require to know.
1. What does the new executive direct tell federal education officials to do?
The order directs U.S. Secretary of Learning Miguel Cardona to exploit the Education Department’s leadership to support LGBTQ students, educators, families, and other personnel who are targeted by “harmful State and local laws and practices.” It also orders Cardona to promote the adoption of policies and practices that will support the “
Biden condemns 'hysterical' and 'ugly' anti-LGBTQ measures
President Joe Biden on Thursday unveiled new initiatives to encourage LGBTQ Americans and called recent anti-trans efforts "thoroughly unjustified" and "ugly."
Biden was set to host the White House's largest-ever Identity celebration but had to postpone due to the heavy smoke that inundated Washington, as well as other major U.S. cities, from raging Canadian wildfires.
Instead, he discussed the initiatives during a press conference with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak when asked about his message to families who no longer feel safe amid increasing legislative onslaughts in Republican-led states.
Biden, who first touted his administration's work to reverse the transgender military ban and his signing of the Respect for Marriage Act, slammed the effort to rollback such protections.
"Our fight is far, far from over because we have some hysterical, and I would dispute prejudiced, people who are engaged in all you what see going on around the country," he said. "It's an appeal to fear and an appeal that is totally, thoroughly unjustified, ugly."
