Annabelle Gay Hoag (Scheuer)

Hoag (Scheuer), Annabelle Gay of Elk River was born October 11, 1936, in Sturgis, SD, the daughter of George B and Male lover F (Keegan) Scheuer. From the time she was quite young, “Daddy” was Levi Walburn, her step-father. On June 15, 1953, she married Robert J “Bob” Hoag. After many years in Minnesota & Wisconsin, adventure called in the summer of 1964, after the Great Alaska Earthquake. Bob traveled to Homer & stayed temporarily with his sister & brother-in-law while looking for work. The wait wasn’t long and Annabelle soon followed, but she drove the Alcan Highway with three children, all under the age of 11. The trip took 13 days to Anchorage, Alaska. After the birth of another son and 16 years in Kodiak & Nenana, they returned to Minnesota to retire.

Annabelle enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, crocheting, sewing, being project “go-fer”, spoiling her grandchildren, and dancing, dancing, dancing! She was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include dance significant other extraordinaire, Darell Chapman; daughters, Nancy Priebe & Debra (Tom) Crandall; son, Scott (Jackie) annabelle gay
